SLJ – Koi Fish – Step it up

For this Summer Learning Journey activity, we had to create an origami koi fish. We followed instructions from a video provided on the Summer Learning Journey link. There are 3 main types of origami. Single sheet origami, Modular origami (when multiple pieces of origami are pieced together), and Composite origami (when a model is made from two or more pieces folded in different ways). Origami art had inspired food all around the world.

I found this task interesting because I got to create my own Origami Fish and I got to learn facts about it .

SLJ – Origami FIsh – Kick Start

For the Summer Learning Journey activity we created an origami fish by using a video that instructs us to create this fish in the Summer Learning Journey link.We had a choice if we wanted to decorate the fish, so I decided to add circles and it symbolises bubbles.

I enjoyed this activity because I got to test my origami skills but it wasn’t that difficult.

SLJ – WANTED!!! Stone Fish

I have made a poster thats shows one of the most dangerous fish in the world that tells people “Do not approach!!” since approaching it will put you into danger.

three interesting facts I found out about stone fish is that

  • They are the master of disguise
  • They are very fast predators.
  • Stone fish can bite you in 0.015 seconds.

I enjoyed this task as I got to learn more about stonefish. as I didn’t know that stone fish were one of the most dangerous fish in the sea.

Exploring AI In Writing

Today we used Papyrus AI which is a generative AI that uses patterns in words and a large language model (LLM) to predict what ideas we might write next. Papyrus AI has been very helpful, making my story sound powerful and allowing me to visualize it in my head. I found it challenging when it gave me too many suggestions but I would definitely like to use Papyrus AI again. It was a fun way to write a story.

Secrets of the Enchanted Forest

One day, a cheerful little girl named Red Riding Hood was sent by her mother to visit her dear granny, who lived on the other side of a dark, windy, and echoey forest. As she tucked her jumper around her shoulders, her mother held her hands with a worried expression, whispering, “Please, my darling, beware of strangers.” Red Riding Hood nodded, feeling a mix of confidence and nerves as she stepped into the mysterious forest.

Her journey through the woods was enchanting but unsettling. Every rustle of the leaves and whisper of the wind seemed to carry an unspoken warning. Just as tears began to prick her eyes from both fear and determination, she spotted a familiar figure ahead.

Snow White stood there, her bright smile like a warm hug, bringing comfort to Red Riding Hood. With genuine concern and kindness, Snow White offered to accompany her, empathising with the little girl’s bravery.

When they reached the brilliantly colourful yet strangely foreboding house, Red Riding Hood felt a mix of relief and unease. Her heart quickened as she entered, a slight tremor in her voice as she called out, “Nanny, why do you look so strange?” The room held its breath in silence, which was soon shattered by the terrifying reveal of the wolf in disguise. Fear gripped Red Riding Hood as she realised the danger.

Snow White, driven by fear and determination, ran to find the prince, her heart pounding with urgency and hope. Her voice shook as she explained the situation, but the prince and his guards sprang into action, motivated by her sincere plea.

Upon returning, they cleverly lured the wolf with poisoned apples, the beast falling for the ruse with greedy eagerness. Once the wolf lay vanquished, peace returned to the forest clearing.

With the ordeal over, Red Riding Hood fell into Snow White’s embrace, tears of relief and gratitude flowing freely. She now understood the weight of her mother’s caution and the power of kindness. From that day forward, she promised to cherish those who love her and to face the world with courage and care.

In a kingdom where magical woods stretched as far as the eye could see, young Red Riding Hood was tasked by her mother to bring a basket of muffins to her grandmother. Not far from the winding forest path lived Snow White with her seven cheerful dwarfs. Red Riding Hood, stepping into the enchanted forest, was reminded to be cautious around strangers. The sun peeked through the branches, casting playful shadows on the ground. Her curiosity was piqued by the colourful flowers lining her route, and as she paused to gather them, she felt a sudden chill of unease.

As Red Riding Hood turned around, she was face-to-face with the Big Bad Wolf, who pretended to be friendly but had mischievous eyes. Nearby, Snow White was busy with her chores, not knowing anything was wrong. Once everything was safe again, Red Riding Hood hugged Snow White, tears of relief and gratitude falling from her eyes. She understood her mother’s warning about strangers and learned the value of kindness, promising to cherish her loved ones and live with courage and care.

Tokelau Language Week

For Tokelauan language week we created a slideshow with facts we found interesting about Tokelau. I worked in a group of 4. We researched and looked on different websites to find interesting facts to share on our google slide, 2 facts about Tokelau I found interesting was, Tokelau is such a small island that there isn’t a way to travel by plane, and Tokelaus capital city has a special attraction for vistors, where they see pigs swimming.

I enjoyed this task because I was able to do something for Tokelauan language week.

Decimal Subtraction

We learnt how to subtract decimal numbers by using the algorithm strategy. Something I found very helpful was remembering to borrow from the next number if the number you are subtracting is higher than what you are subtracting it from. Another helpful tip is by putting the bigger number on top that way it wont be that confusing.

I found this interesting because now I can subtract decimals by using the algorithm strategy easily.

Decimal Addition

We learnt how to add decimals by using writen algorithm. Some things I find that help me is when doing decimal Addition is to always have the numbers aligned as well as adding the place holder 0’s , so that you dont get confused. Always start from right to left and don’t forget to add remainders to the next number.

I found this fun because now I know how to add decimals.

Why Sleeping Is Important

For this activity we were challenge to research about why sleep is important and healthy. We were first given questions to answer about using videos andarticles to find the information we needed. Some questions we answered were “What are the effect of not getting enough sleep, Why is sleeping healthy, and what are the side effects of not getting enough or too much sleep “.

I enjoyed this activity because I learnt why sleeping is important as well as getting to use my smart searching skills to answer the questions.

Duffy birthday hats

We created birthday hats to celebrate Duffy’s 30th Birthday. We first started by searching for some ideas aswell as planing on how I would like my hat to turn out as. For my Duffy birthday hat I first start off with the number 30th as it was the easiest and simplest design. As I was thinking about more designs someone recommended some confetti’s on my hat as it would fill in all the blank spots , but I had a massive gap behind my hat so I decided to add “hip hip hooray” as it was a birthday celebration. Lastly to finish off my hat I decided to add on an paper flower and some gliter to bring some bling into my crown.

I enjoyed this activity because I got to use my smart searching skills as well as my imaginary to create something.

My Duffy Library

We created Duffy Boxes for student in our school to have something to store their Duffy books. We first used our smart searching skills to help us look for some designs online as it would help us alot with what type of design/theme we are going for such as zentangle designs and culture designs. Other classes also had their own designs where some had paint on their boxes, coloured their boxes, or even left it simple with one colour. As we all had Duffy on the cover of our boxes with our names. Also these boxes we’ve created were displayed on the stage for the birthday.

I really enjoyed this acitivitgy because I got really creative with the designs on my Duffy box and loved how it came out.
