Soccer

Today we learned soccer skills.

First we got into 4 groups and practised how to dribble the ball to the group across us. After practising we did a race with the other teams and we needed to dribble the ball close to us and not kick it too hard or it would go to the other team and my other team would win.

Next we used the inside of our feet to keep the ball close to us before the other teams got the ball.

Lastly we played a game called stop the ball. For example: we needed to get into the same group we were in for dribbling the ball and two groups got into 1 whole group and the group on the other side of the field needed to try and pass the ball to there team on the other side of the field because the team that has the ball can’t cross from the other side of the field to us or your team will be out.

I enjoyed learning how to play soccer and learning new skills. I did well at dribbling the ball to the group across from us. I need to improve on helping my team at getting better at playing stop the ball.

Imaginative Recount

I wrote an imaginative recount about a zombie apocalypse.

First I needed to think of some ideas for the imaginative story.

Next I had to think of events to hook people or the reader into reading my story.

Lastly I made an imaginative recount and wrote some of my ideas in the boxes. After I wrote my recount draft which is a story but drafted.

I enjoyed writing this imaginative recount because it was very fun writing this and thinking of things that will happen. I did well on the brain storm because writing about the main character was my favourite part. I need to improve on my recount draft because I need to think about more ideas for my story.

Basic Facts

We did a task called prototect.

First we went on to prototec and our teacher said that instead of year 4’s doing the 4 level they have to do the year 5 level  and year 5’s have to do the 6 level and the year 6’s have to do year 7 work.

Then we needed to do the timed basic facts and the non-timed basic facts to test me to see what answers were difficult for me and how many I got right and how many I got wrong.

Next  we wrote tem answer that we got wrong and wrote it in the back of the book so when we have extra time we can practise our time tables.

I enjoyed doing this task because it tells me if I need more practice at my times table. I did well on the sheet on because the sheet on is easy from the start then it gets to random stuff. I need to improve on getting my time tables right.

World War 1

This week we learned about world war 1.

First we got our headphones and watched and listened to find the key words. The key word I was trying to find was Lice and Rats.

Next we needed to write the events and effects. For example the rat is the size of a cat and lice gets inside of people’s clothes and rats also eat people’s dead bodies.

Lastly we made sure everything was right before blogging it.

I enjoyed this task because we needed to look for keywords. I did well on spotting the keywords in the videos and finding them on the website. I think I need to improve on writing less so the other writings can fit.

Times Tables

This week practised our times tables by using a task called prototec.

First we did prototec and Mr Oglivie said the year 5’s needed to do the times table 6 work and the year 6’s get to do the 7 times table work then year 4’s have to do 5 work.

Then I needed to test myself on the timed worksheet. After I did a non-timed I needed to press the mark to see how many questions I got right and I got wrong. I got 13 for the sheet one and 9 on the timed one.

Lastly we needed to write ten answers that we got wrong in the back of our maths books. So in our extra time we can practise our prototec.

I enjoyed doing this task because it tells me how many questions I got wrong and got right so it tells me if I need to practise more of my times table. I think I did well on the sheet one because it seems easy but it gets harder and harder. I need to improve on thinking faster on timed because I need to answer the question fast in time because it goes to the next question after 3 or 2 seconds.

Basic Facts

This week we leraned about basic facts.

First I picked what time table to do out of the 4,6,7, and 8 times table. 8 time table is big or small groups of somthing and then we show it with the uni link cubes.

Next we needed to write the fact family. The fact family for this fact faimly is 6×4=24, 4×6=24, 24÷4=6, and 6÷24=4 that is an fact family.

Lastly we took photos of the uni cubes in groups of 4,6,7, 8.

I enjoyed this task because putting them into groups was my favrouit part. I think I did well on helping Ayvah put the uni cubes into groups. I think I need to improve on writing the times table.

Dawn Parade

I read a book about the dawn parade.

First I read the book and looked for some keywords.

Next I found some keywords and put it in the box.

Lastly I wrote the beginning, middle, and ending about the dawn parade.

I enjoyed doing this task because I liked looking for keywords. I did well on writing the beginning, middle, and the ending for the dawn parade. I think I need to improve on finding important keywords.

T- Ball Skills

We have revised and learned some new skills. The skills are hitting, running, and throwing.

First we got warmed up by playing a game called noodle tag. Noodle tag is like hitting someone with a bat but with a noodle. When you get tagged you have to stand on one leg and hold your balance and count up to ten. If you lose your balance then you have to start from zero.

Next coach Cameron taught us how to ball and a good position to ball. First he told us to put the bat up to our belly button, and to keep our legs apart.

Lastly played t ball but we switched teams and played against those teams.

I enjoyed doing this task because hitting and running is my favourite part. I think I’m good at batting because I made the ball kinda far. I think I did well on running because it took some people to throw the ball to someone. I need to improve on fielding because I need to spread out more and try to catch the ball and throw it to someone close to one of the bases or tag them with the ball.

Identifying Fraction

This week we learnt about Identifying fractions. Fraction is an object that is split into two equal pieces.

First we got some paper and made them into fractions. The fraction we were doing were one half, one thirds, One fifth, two thirds, and two fifths.

Thirds is a fraction that has three pieces in total, but only has two.

Fifths is a fraction thast has five pieces in total, but only has four.

Next we took photos of our fractions that we made and typed what fraction it was.

I enjoyed this task because my favourite part was folding it and cutting the paper. I need to improve on getting fast at finishing my fractions. I think I did well on folding the paper into the fractions.

The 4 c’s

This week we played a game and we tried to use the 4 c’s.

The four c’s of Leadership are co-operation, collaboration, communication, and confidence.

First we discussed which one of the green words that we wrote on our body outline were the 4 c’s.

Next we made a plan using the 4 c’s that will help us do good in the game.

Then we used the plan in the game to see how much it worked out .

Lastly we played the game using our strategy and it kinda worked.

We enjoyed this task because we all loved this game and want to play again. We need to improve on using the communication in games.
