HPE- T ball

Today I practised T-Ball skills.

The skills we learned were running and hitting. For Example: Running is where you need to run to the base with the cones. For Example for hitting: Hitting is where you have a ball on something then you use a bat to bat the ball off.

First we needed to practise batting the ball in our 2 teams.

Next we needed to run from base to base.

Lastly we needed to hit the ball and run to the next base while the other team needed to put the ball back to the tee.

I enjoyed playing T-ball because I played it last year. I did well on hitting the ball off the Tee. I need to improve on running faster from base to base.

Evaluation

This week me and my reading group did a reading activity. The activity was evaluation.

First for evaluation we read this thing about testing animals. Evaluation is where you read something and there is a paper or a DLO where it says Yes, No, and My Opinion.

Then me and my group went on the mat to talk if we should test on animals or not test on animals. Most of my group said no because it’s bad for their skin and health, the product might burn their skin, or the product might give the animal diseases.

Lastly we made a copy of the evaluation doc meant and wrote 4 questions why we should text and why we should not and our opinion.

I enjoyed this activity because I like doing reading activity. I did well on telling people my opinions and why. I need to improve more on why we should test on animals.

Bees

This week we filmed a presentation video about honey bees.

First we needed to write our script on a google doc. The first part that I needed to say was: what helps bees survive. One of the easiest ways to help bees stay alive is planting a garden full of flowers that bees love to eat from. One more easy way to help bees is to leave a bowl of water in your backyard that they can drink from. Flowers help bees survive because the pollen helps bees get honey from it.

Next we needed to practise words we couldn’t say right and words that we can’t pronounce.

Lastly we needed to record ourselves explaining what it means. It wasn’t really that scary recording because it was quite funny while recording it because we messed up a little bit but we tried one more time.

I enjoyed this task because learning about bees was fun. I did well on the designs. I need to improve on focusing on the writing before getting into the designs

3 Dangerous Situations Online

There are a lot of different types of dangerous situations. Some of the situations were: Cyber bullying, Scams, and Posting private information.

Cyber Predators is where an adult pretends to be a child online to make you do inappropriate things. For example: Hi there. My name is John. How old are you? I’m 10 years old. Do you like Fortnite?. But don’t stay on too long or tell your parents or report it.

Scams are where people message you by trying to trick you to get money. For example: “I am a prince who has been exiled from his kingdom. I ask that you help me by donating just $100. I will pay you back when I can pay for my freedom and get back to my kingdom. If you get a message like that then report the message or block the scammer.

Posting private information is where someone asks you where you live, phone number, credit card number, stuff like that. For example: Hi my name is Jack from school. Would you like to come with me and the boys to the movies? Mum says she will pick you up. Just post your address here and we’ll pick you up. Get your mum or someone to contact that person’s mum because you neer know what will happen.

These are other dangerous situations around the world as well.

Explanation

This week I learnt how to write an explanation. The structure of an explanation is TIES which is Title, introduction, explanation, and summary.

First I needed to choose a topic to explain what I’m writing about. I chose how flowers work with bees . I also needed to plan and research on how flowers work with bees.

Next I made my explanation and research about it: My explanation was: How flowers work with bees because bees need honey from the pollen which is the yellow circle in the middle of the flower. After the bees ate the pollen from the flowers they move on to the next flower and get more pollen from the flower.

Lastly I wrote a summary about how flowers work with bees. My summary was: If the bees stopped pollinating the flowers, then there would be no more flowers for bees to take honey from.

I really enjoyed this task because I learnt how to write an explanation and also picking a topic for my explanation. I did well on researching how flowers work with bees. I need to improve on planning because planning is a bit too hard.

Ki O Rahi

This week we learned how to play Ki o Rahi.

First I watched a video about the legend of Ki o Rahi. Ki O Rahi is a game where people go into a war and whichever team wins they will have peace.

Next I learned what the names were for the areas on the field.

Lastly we played a game where coach Chelsea says a name for the places on the field and if you go to the wrong spot then you need to do five star jumps.

I enjoyed playing Ki o Rahi because Ki O Rahi is one of my favourite sports and I have played Ki O Rahi. I did well on running to the spot on the field where coach Chelsea told us which place to go to and we have to go to the right area before you need to do five jump stars . I need to improve on blocking the bin because people kept on hitting the bin which makes them win.

Parts Of Speech

Parts of speech are words that are 9 or 8 different kinds of words.

Nouns are things that can be talked about, For example the girl.

Adjective is a word that describes nouns. For example the little girl.

Verbs are  action words. For example the little girl is jumping.

Adverb is a word that describes an action word. For example, the little girl’s are jumping quickly.

Parts of a speech is a way to that word that needs to be used in a sentence.

Soccer

Today we learned soccer skills.

First we got into 4 groups and practised how to dribble the ball to the group across us. After practising we did a race with the other teams and we needed to dribble the ball close to us and not kick it too hard or it would go to the other team and my other team would win.

Next we used the inside of our feet to keep the ball close to us before the other teams got the ball.

Lastly we played a game called stop the ball. For example: we needed to get into the same group we were in for dribbling the ball and two groups got into 1 whole group and the group on the other side of the field needed to try and pass the ball to there team on the other side of the field because the team that has the ball can’t cross from the other side of the field to us or your team will be out.

I enjoyed learning how to play soccer and learning new skills. I did well at dribbling the ball to the group across from us. I need to improve on helping my team at getting better at playing stop the ball.

Imaginative Recount

I wrote an imaginative recount about a zombie apocalypse.

First I needed to think of some ideas for the imaginative story.

Next I had to think of events to hook people or the reader into reading my story.

Lastly I made an imaginative recount and wrote some of my ideas in the boxes. After I wrote my recount draft which is a story but drafted.

I enjoyed writing this imaginative recount because it was very fun writing this and thinking of things that will happen. I did well on the brain storm because writing about the main character was my favourite part. I need to improve on my recount draft because I need to think about more ideas for my story.

Basic Facts

We did a task called prototect.

First we went on to prototec and our teacher said that instead of year 4’s doing the 4 level they have to do the year 5 level  and year 5’s have to do the 6 level and the year 6’s have to do year 7 work.

Then we needed to do the timed basic facts and the non-timed basic facts to test me to see what answers were difficult for me and how many I got right and how many I got wrong.

Next  we wrote tem answer that we got wrong and wrote it in the back of the book so when we have extra time we can practise our time tables.

I enjoyed doing this task because it tells me if I need more practice at my times table. I did well on the sheet on because the sheet on is easy from the start then it gets to random stuff. I need to improve on getting my time tables right.
